DOE Senior Project
2019
Applied a Design of Experiments methodology to optimize a bio-culture bottling line, targeting torque inconsistencies in the capping process responsible for an estimated $617,000 in annual leakage costs for the project sponsor.
A screening DOE identified three improvement paths — friction disk wear reduction, optimized machine settings, and induction sealing. Economic analysis concluded that optimized settings offered the lowest implementation threshold, with induction sealing recommended as a long-term addition.
